about

“The Lemurians” is an album in which I fulfill my dream of recording a noise, slightly atonal New Age album. Before 2023, I had several such albums on my account (they were released or will be released soon on the Via Kosmische bandcamp), but they were rather intuitive and very unstable. I managed to find balance only this year, when I returned to the guitar in the context of New Age music.

"The Lemurians" consists of 2 sub-parts, each of which consists of 5 smaller fragments. They illustrate the journey of the titular Lemurians after the sinking of their continent.

None other than Erich von Däniken is responsible for the ideological layer of the album. It was while reading his books between 1998 and 2003 that I first heard about the ancient astronaut theory. Around this theory, there are plenty of other theories, sub-theories and conclusions that an intelligent person can draw by connecting the dots with lines. The dots are the continents, and the lines are the ancient ways of humanity.

After reading all Däniken's books available in Polish, the young mind easily formed a picture of a world in which before the white, European history, there was an older, more mysterious and darker history than the dark ages of the Middle Ages. I don't mean to sound like a weirdo who thinks aliens are the gods of European culture and the deities of other cultures, but there's definitely something in the mythologies (and myth is half-forgotten history) of the peoples who roamed the continents before Columbus.

Why do Olmec heads have distinctly African facial features? Why do some statues or figures depict dinosaurs? Why is the Pyramid complex of Giza supposedly mapping the stars of the constellation Orion? I don't know, but the questions are more interesting than the answers.

Let the album "The Lemurians" remain an interesting question to which an attentive listener may find an answer. Even if it's "I don't know."
